Facts and figures on Potsdam

Potsdam is the federal capital of the state of Brandenburg and the city with the state’s largest number of residents with currently 153,000, situated in the immediate vicinity to Berlin.  
Potsdam’s cultural landscape is part of the UNESCO world cultural heritage.
Potsdam has good reason to claim to be a film city. The Babelsberg film studio in Potsdam-Babelsberg, which was founded in 1911, is the world’s oldest large-scale film studio and Germany’s largest film production area.
Potsdam is the city of science. Some 5,000 inhabitants work in scientific institutions. Nowhere else in Germany are there more scientists per capita of the population than in Potsdam.
